Its great for Dad babywearing, and way more casual (just throw on a T-shirt) compared to other rigs.
For babies 7-15 lbs.
Hands down, without a doubt, the pouch of the Lalabu Dad Shirt is my daughter's favorite place to be... perhaps only to be challenged as my wife prepares her Lalabu Soothe Shirt.
While my daughter will chill in the shirt awake, usually providing our auto-regulated body heat allows them to pass out cold, and since especially at this age and stage motion and loud noises bring back memories of where their every want and need was auto-maternally provided, they tend to sleep though whatever normal activities you are doing while they are in the pouch.
While the Lalabu Dad Shirt works great walking around, but us guys need to remember that there is still a baby in front: We haven't had the nine months practice that she got.
That means avoid walking into things, chemicals, power tools, hot coffee, bending forward at the waist such that she slides out (gotta use our knees anyway for back health), etc. A simple but important disclaimer, again only since dads just don't get the gradual 9 month preview of this concept, and because the shirt is comfortable enough to sometimes momentarily forget the baby is (likely asleep) in there, so it takes some extra vigilance.
It is almost hands free. There is a drawstring for the head support flap that works well, and a couple of tiny magnets integrated into the fabric for closure, but safe for the baby weight range for which it is intended -- the magnets are very well secured and the max baby weight is far too young for he or she to chew them out.
It is air or ultra-cool dry only, because of the elastic pouch support straps on the inside of the shirt.
Finally, I thought that a diaper backpack bag would be too much weight, but it actually makes a nice counter-balance to the baby's weight... but no need to tell the ladies that...
The social acceptance of the shirt is actually off the chart. Wearing it, I quickly noticed that every other young mom/hopeful mom wanted to admire the shirt and the baby together....
Awesome concept! My husband loved being able to put our newborn daughter in his pouch and keep her close!
Great idea! Works absolute wonders first few weeks and baby loves it. Only downside is they grow out of it quickly! Designed for up to 15lbs but I stopped using it from around 10-11lbs cos he wasn't as comfortable in it, my baby grew quick so that was only around four weeks for me. Still 5 stars though cos I don't think that's a design flaw, just the way it is! Would recommend either way, whether you get three / six weeks or longer out of it, it's worth it and all the midwives were asking where I got it from cos they thought it was great!
My husband is thrilled to have a piece of baby gear that lets him feel close to our little one. He can’t wait to use it and refused to let me put it in storage while we wait.
